Hot dog! A brand new day is on the horizon for the great, unsung hero of the American cookout. While burgers have had (and will continue to have) their day, a pair of DC hospitality professionals are ensuring the hot dog finally gets the attention it’s due. Cork Wine Bar owners Diane Gross and Khalid Pitts are opening a Chicago-style hot dog concept called Marv’ Dogs, and its debut is nearly close enough to taste, reports Eater Washington DC.

District foodies will be able to sink their teeth in a frankfurter in a relaxed, family-friendly storefront at 4936 Wisconsin Avenue NW. The concept has been in development for nearly a year; Marv’s first introduced itself to social media on April 26 of last year. The eatery has inspired plenty of local enthusiasm, stirring up diners’ appetites through pop-ups across the region.

Future regulars can look forward to Chicago-style dogs topped with traditional pickled toppings. Visitors with a sweet tooth will be able to watch down their meals with vanilla and pistachio milkshakes.

Marv’s neighbors won’t have to wait much longer to sample the concept’s dogs; the restaurant is on deck to open its doors in early March.
