Five Guys is bringing its remarkable burgers to the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. According to the Review Journal’s Neon outlet, the brand is putting in a 2,200 square-foot restaurant that will seat 60, with indoor seating and an outdoor patio at 1 North Main Street.
No word yet on when construction will start exactly, but the plan is for the new Five Guys to open by summer. But we do know that Lucas Mitchell, a location franchisee, is behind the opening. What Now Las Vegas reached out to Mitchell, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
The new Five Guys coming to the Valley marks the 40th year the company has been pumping out burgers. Founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, by Jerry and Janie Murrell, Five Guys began as a family-run takeout joint offering high-quality, hand-formed burgers and peanut-oil fries, according to the Five Guys website.
“Real is the name of the game at Five Guys. The burgers are made to order, the fries are hand-cut, the toppings are prepared fresh each morning, and the shakes are the highest quality. Real – it’s who we are and what we do, since 1986,” the website reads.
Following a slow expansion in the D.C. area, Five Guys franchising began in 2003, turning it into a global, cult-favorite chain. There are more than 1900 Five Guys locations across 29 countries. A good portion of those eateries are in the US, with just 12 in Nevada, and at least six in Las Vegas.
The menu has remained simple but delicious. Burgers are always hand-formed and served fresh, but each can be different depending on whether you’re a pepper, chilli, cheese, or all of the above type of person. The brand has also gained traction for its hot dogs. Five Guys also has sandwiches, and you can add fries, a soft drink, or one of their homemade shakes to the mix.
The new Five Guys set to come to the Valley this year is expected to open in the Plaza Hotel & Casino property at 1 North Main Street this summer.
