One of the North Shore’s most iconic restaurants is expanding to Revere Beach this spring.
According to a recent report from CBS News, Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus will soon launch a seaside spin-off called Kowloon Tiki On The Beach at 21 Revere Beach Blvd. The new spot will accommodate up to 120 diners indoors and 100 more on the outdoor patio, providing a full-service beachfront experience.
“We have been in active discussions with Kowloon about their plans and are excited to welcome them to America’s First Public Beach,” Revere planning chief Tom Skwierawski told the publication.
The news first broke Wednesday morning on social media, with Phantom Gourmet founder and host Dave Andelman assuring viewers that “This is not a joke!” Revere Beach’s official Facebook page later reposted the announcement.
Founded in 1950 as The Mandarin House, Kowloon Restaurant has been owned by the Wong family since its debut. Last fall, plans emerged to redevelop the original Saugus location into two six-story mixed-use buildings featuring nearly 200 apartments and a smaller Kowloon iteration on the ground floor.
While a full menu for Kowloon Tiki On The Beach has not yet been released, co-owner Bob Wong told The Boston Globe that the new restaurant will feature Saugus favorites like pupu platters and mai tais.
“We’ll have a lot of fun. It will be an Instagram location,” he joked, adding that the new spot will lean even more heavily into a tropical vibe, with additional tropically themed drinks and dishes served amid kitschy, island-inspired décor.
Kowloon Tiki On The Beach is slated to open in April 2026. Restaurant representatives could not be reached for comment, but more details are expected to be shared soon.
