Pentagon City diners may have recently bid farewell to a local cafe, but fortunately the vacated storefront will soon be alive with the smells of freshly brewed coffee and delicious pastries once more. Maman is taking over the space occupied by Mae’s Market and Cafe until late last year, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

Maman’s is setting up shop at 1450 S. Eads Street. The restaurant space has “coming soon” signage up in the windows, though the precise nature of “soon” remains nebulous. The location is not yet listed on Maman’s website; What Now DC has reached out to leadership and will update readers as new facts come to light.

Mae’s Market and Cafe closed its Pentagon City location in December of 2025 after a little more than a year in operation. Maman is a good candidate for a replacement; the chain already has a presence in the area, with 10 stores open across the DMV.

Arlington foodies unfamiliar with the concept are in for a treat. Maman opened its first storefront in New York in 2014. The chain has expanded to more than 30 locations across the Northeast, fueled by the promise that guests will be: “greeted by the scent of culinary splendor that wafts through the space, our guests step into an experience that engages all of the senses: rustic décor at every turn, the aroma and comfort of cuisines inspired by family traditions, and the highest quality ingredients.”
