An L.A.-native coffee concept is preparing to change the way the DMV thinks about java. Dayglow Coffee, known for its commitment to international brews, unique roasters, and distinctive non-alcoholic coffee cocktails, has signed onto open its first DC location later this year, reports Washington Business Journal.
The cafe will be making its debut in Georgetown at 1510 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Dayglow will be bringing a very different energy to the 2,000 square foot storefront than its previous tenant-a yoga studio. The cafe incorporates a minimalist aesthetic that invites customers to watch artisans creating their espresso drinks. The DC location may also offer Awan vegan ice cream, a brand co-founded by Dayglow co-founder Tohm Ifergan, though that is not an absolute certainty.
While the commute from L.A. to DC may seem like a rather long walk, Ifergan explains that a Dayglow investor pitched the District as a prime location for the cafe, and ultimately, Ifergan agreed. He explains: “”It just felt very much like a place I felt connected to very quickly, and I liked the idea, so I told my investor, ‘OK, let’s do it, if we can find a space.””
There is not yet a definitive date for when DC coffee fans can enjoy a sip of Dayglow’s brews, however the chain should be open at some point this summer. What Now DC has reached out to ownership and will update readers as information becomes available.
