An award-winning chef is bringing her creations to the north side of the city.

It is being reported a second Cochinita & Co. location is opening at 4928 Fulton in Lindale Park this spring. This follows James Beard-recognized chef Victoria Elizondo‘s first restaurant debuting in 2021. She is hoping to introduce her new spot this April.

The Lawndale restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options and is open daily 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Elizondo serves crafted dishes like her whole grilled cactus pad, a taco with black bean spread, onions, peppers and caramelized onions. Those in the mood for a Mexican breakfast have options like their breakfast torta with scrambled eggs, refried beans and cheese. The full menu is available on their website.

Elizondo was a James Beard semifinalist in 2023 for her work at Cochinita. When she was just 12, she left her hometown in Mexico and began working in kitchens. Prior to opening her Lawndale restaurant in 2021, she began serving the community in food trucks and at pop-ups.

“What started under a tent evolved into a successful restaurant and manufactured business,” says the description on Conchonita & Co’s website.

The new restaurant will be near the intersection of Cavalcade Street and Fulton, close to Khaosan Road Thai Cuisine and MrBeast Burger. Downtown is very accessible as this is close to a light rail station on Fulton.

What Now Houston has reached out to Elizondo, and this article may be updated.
