A small but expanding DMV concept is bringing its unique Belgian flavors to DC. Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden is getting ready to complete a hospitality hat trick by opening its third location in Cathedral Heights, reports popular Twitter account @eat_dc.

Augie’s is bringing a “ taste of Belgium inspired by the rich heritage of St. Augustine” to 3228 Wisconsin Ave NW. According to a liquor license application filed with the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration, the restaurant will have enough seats to accommodate up to 140 visitors inside and will have a sidewalk cafe able to serve another 32 guests.

An opening timeline is not presently available for the DC restaurant; the company website has it listed only as “coming soon”.

Cathedral Heights locals will doubtless be enthusiastic to see food and hospitality returning to the Wisconsin Avenue storefront; it sat vacant for almost a year following Talea’s departure from the space in July of 2025.

Augie’s DC location allows the brand to have representation in each letter of the DMV. The concept already has restaurants open and operational in Alexandria, Virginia and Annapolis, Maryland. The company website offers this exciting peak for District foodies curious about what to expect from this new dining adventure: “From our flagship beer garden in Old Town Alexandria to our sports bar in Annapolis Town Center and our upcoming location in Cathedral Heights, Augie’s brings the same commitment to quality Belgian-inspired fare, carefully selected beers, and a welcoming atmosphere where neighbors become friends. Each location has its own personality, but they all share the spirit of St. Augustine, the Patron Saint of Brewers—great food, cold beer, and good company.”

Augie’s menu heavily favors seafood-of course, the titular mussels are featured players. However, DC diners who prefer their cuisine a little more landlocked will have plenty to choose from as well. The restaurant also serves burgers, chicken sandwiches, pasta, fried chicken, and even hot dogs.
