Sweet treats meet savory bites as Stack’d Creamery & Burger Bar prepares to open in York this spring.

The new eatery, owned by young entrepreneur Gavin Binner, will open at 2811 E. Prospect Rd., taking over the former Ripleigh’s Creamery space. Binner is also the brains behind Scoop O Dough, a cookie dough food truck he started in high school and grew in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Over the past year or two, we wanted to open a brick and mortar; it was something we thought was the next step for our business. It was always my idea to have food with ice cream. We came across the York location when Ripleigh’s Creamery was closing down. We reached out to them and thought it would be cool to carry their ice cream, and the space also just happened to have a kitchen,” Binner told What Now Philadelphia.

Stack’d will serve Ripleigh’s ice cream favorites alongside Binner’s cookie dough classics, including birthday cake, brownie batter, chocolate chip and peanut butter paradise, plus premium, never-frozen burgers.

“You’re going to be able to choose how many patties you want on your burger. People always like their burgers in different sizes. Some people don’t want a big burger; we’re going to have that option. But then, some people do want that mile-high burger with onion rings on it. We’re going to have that option as well,” he said.

The menu will also feature chicken sandwiches and shareable bites.

Another standout feature of the eatery will be its “sauce bar.”

“We’re going to have a sauce bar. Our goal is to have four to six different homemade sauces that we make in house, that go with the burgers, chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and appetizers,” Binner said.

The name “Stack’d” nods to stacking toppings on both ice cream and burgers, and Binner said it had a catchy appeal, like, “Hey! Let’s go get Stack’d tonight.”

The space’s interior will feature an industrial theme.

“We’re going to have corrugated metal on some of the walls. Another wall is going to be stained like wet concrete. We’re also going to have a word splash wall in the back, and one that highlights our story, which is going to be pretty cool. The ceiling is going to be black, and we’re going to include some pops of red from our logo,” he said.

The young entrepreneur is excited to open his first brick-and-mortar storefront and support the local community.

“My big thing is that I love to meet new people in the community,” he said. “We want to really be involved in the community. We’re going to be doing fundraiser nights for organizations like sports teams and the fire companies. We’ll give a percentage of the sale back for people that come in to support.”

Binner said his advice to others who just started out is to “take the risk,” and “you have to do something that you love to do, because it won’t seem like work in the end.”

Stack’d Creamery & Burger Bar is set to open at the end of May. Fans of Scoop O Dough need not worry, as the food truck will continue operating alongside the new storefront.
