Miami International Airport (MIA) is about to transform passengers’ dining experiences.
The airport has just entered into a 12-year contract extension with HMSHost, as an integral part of the airport’s $9 billion dollar capital improvement program.
The agreement includes HMSHost’s commitment to, “reimagine its over 20 restaurants, bars, and grab & go outlets across the North, Central, and South terminals”, according to a press release. A timeline for the changes has not been announced.
HMSHost will spearhead the transformation of MIA’s culinary scene, with plans to offer a mix of local restaurants, global brands, and HMSHost concepts — and will also digitize many options enabling passengers to streamline the dining process.
Steve Johnson, President and CEO, North America, Avolta (HMS Host’s parent company), said that this renewed partnership will allow HMS Host to revamp the airport’s dining experiences for passengers: “This extension affirms our leadership in airport dining and positions us to introduce bold new concepts, celebrate Miami’s culinary culture, and deliver the innovative food and beverage experiences travelers want at a global hub like MIA.”
HMSHost’s renewed 12-year contract is part of MIA’s multi-billion-dollar Modernization in Action (M.I.A.) capital improvement and maintenance program, making much-needed improvements to an airport that is expected to welcome more than 77 million travelers by 2040.
