A longstanding Beverly Hills restaurant is returning to the community. Porta Via will reopen and relocate to 184 N. Canon Dr. with plans to open this summer, according to a release.
The restaurant closed in December following a Christmas Day fire at its location at 424 N. Canon Dr.
“Our hearts are very much with our team, our neighbors, and the community that has supported us for so many years. We will continue to share updates as they become available, but for now we are closed,” a Dec. 26 Facebook announcement reads. “For more than 30 years, Porta Via Beverly Hills has been more than a restaurant. It has been a home for me and for so many others in our community. We will work to rebuild and restore it as quickly as possible.”
The previous location, launched in 1994, featured a 4,000-square-foot restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, a full bar and a private event space. The new 5,300-square-foot space, formerly home to Nusr-Et, will feature a patio and a contemporary bistro atmosphere that will seat 165 guests.
“We’ve made so many memories at Porta Via Beverly Hills, and we’re incredibly grateful to have become a lasting part of the community,” owner Peter Garland said in the release. “This summer, we begin a new chapter in a new home and look forward to making new memories there with the support of our longtime guests.”
The neighborhood bistro and bar serves Italian-inspired California cuisine, featuring items like grilled branzino, filet mignon, parmigiano crusted Alaskan halibut, pastas, sandwiches and salads. The beverage program features wine and cocktails.
“As we transition to our new home, we’re excited to continue serving our community with the same passion and dedication,” Garland said in the release. “Thank you for being part of our journey — here’s to many more years of great food, warm hospitality and shared memories.”
The brand has locations currently open in Calabasas and Palm Desert. A location was formerly open in the Pacific Palisades, but that location is also temporarily closed due to damage from the Palisades fire. That location is slated to reopen in August.
