A 73-year-old community-owned grocery co-op will open a new store this fall.

PCC Community Markets plans to debut the spot in Seattle’s Madison Valley neighborhood at 2925 E. Madison St., according to a press release.

The company’s acting CEO said the new location has been a long time coming.

“We signed this lease ten years ago, and it’s been a long road to get here as the project worked through the local process, with input from the neighborhood along the way. That makes it especially meaningful to finally open our doors and put down roots here,” Amy Chow said in a statement.

The store offers a full assortment of PCC’s high-quality groceries, including locally grown organic produce, ethically raised meat and seafood and a wide selection of seasonal products sourced from across the Pacific Northwest.

A deli features a skilled staff preparing in-house meals, including seasonal salads, artisanal sandwiches, hot soups and grab-and-go items.

This will be the co-op’s 17th location, expanding its footprint across Seattle and the Eastside, with existing outposts in neighborhoods including Ballard, Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, the Central District, Columbia City, downtown, Edmonds, Fremont, Green Lake Aurora, Green Lake Village, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, View Ridge and West Seattle.

The team is eager to join the Madison Valley neighborhood.

“This neighborhood has such a strong sense of community, and we look forward to being a part of people’s everyday routines,” Chow said.

Construction is underway, with the store expected to debut in the fall. Visit the PCC Community Markets website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates
