Tacos Frontera has taken the Greater Houston region by storm with its authentic Tijuana-style taquerias. The Houston-born brand is now embarking on opening a fourth location. According to a recently filed permit, Tacos Frontera is slated to open next in Pasadena in the Spencer Square shopping center at 2536 Spencer Hwy.
The permit details that construction is expected to start this summer in July and wrap up by September. If all goes well, Pasadena residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the new taqueria by fall.
Though this is the fourth opening, the brand has already begun to franchise and outsource operations. At the helm of the new Tacos Frontera is a representative of the franchise opening the new Pasadena location, Alfresd Clemesha. What Now Houston briefly spoke with Clemesha. Clemsha excitedly confirmed the opening and timeline. Clemesha shared that the Pasadena location should open at the end of summer, and a third location is opening first at Highway 10 and 610 in the Marq-E Entertainment Center before summer kicks off.
Tacos Frontera, identified as Houston’s first authentic Tijuana-style taqueria, was founded by Erik Leal and his wife, Maribel, in 2023. The two opened a second location in Katy in 2025. The brand has continued to blossom ever since.

What Now Houston reached out to Leal, who shared his excitement about the continued expansion via email.
“Tijuana style is all about making everything to order, from tortillas, grilling the meat, and adding pure guacamole to almost every menu item. Our best sellers are the Asada tacos, adobada tacos, and mulitas, along with quesabirrias,” Leal said.
“We do plan to expand after monitoring the operations of the Pasadena and the Marquis store. We want to take it one at a time and make sure every store is consistent with all of our concept 100%. We plan to bring something a little different to the taco scene in the area, as well as great service and quality in our ingredients. We are very excited about this opportunity, and we hope to please the Pasadena community as they deserve.”
