La Victoria Cocina Mexicana is preparing to expand into Raleigh with a new restaurant planned for 2519 Fairview Road, according to previous reporting by the Triangle Business Journal. The upcoming location is currently targeting an October or November opening, pending permit approvals.

Additional details about the project were shared with WhatNow Charlotte during a recent interview with JalMex Hospitality Group co-owner Salvador Alvarez.

According to Alvarez, the Raleigh restaurant will mark the second location for La Victoria Cocina Mexicana, which currently operates in Cary. He said the company had been searching for the right opportunity to bring the concept closer to downtown Raleigh as JalMex Hospitality Group continues expanding throughout the Triangle.

“We’ve wanted to bring La Victoria into Raleigh for a while because we see a lot of opportunity in the market there,” Alvarez told WhatNow Charlotte. “The neighborhood felt like a really good fit for the kind of family-oriented environment we try to create with this concept.”

La Victoria Cocina Mexicana serves a mix of authentic Mexican dishes and Tex-Mex favorites, including carnitas plates, chilaquiles, al pastor tacos, margaritas, cocktails, and other traditional items, according to the restaurant’s online menu. The concept also features a dedicated kids’ menu and a more relaxed atmosphere than some of JalMex Hospitality Group’s livelier restaurant concepts.

La Victoria is one of several restaurants operated by JalMex Hospitality Group, which also includes concepts such as La Buena Vida, Fonda Lupita, Tacos Number Juan, Gringo a Go Go, and Chido Taco.

Alvarez shared that JalMex Hospitality Group currently operates 12 restaurants and is planning several additional openings this year. Those projects include Casa Sofia in North Raleigh and Casa Nama, an Asian concept planned for Midtown Raleigh near East End Bistro.

As JalMex Hospitality Group continues expanding across the Triangle, the upcoming Raleigh restaurant marks another step in the company’s growing presence throughout the region.
