The Atlanta Beltline has achieved a major milestone with the completion of a new section. The event marks the completion of a new section of the Beltline’s main trail. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the achievement.
Atlanta Beltline to Open Nearly 17 Miles of Continuous Trail

The event marks the opening of ‘The U,’ creating 16.7 miles of continuous mainline trail for the first time in the project’s history. It is a first in the project’s history, making it a significant milestone.
Completion of Southside Trail Segments 2 and 3 made the milestone possible. It is a new 1.9-mile section that connects Pittsburgh Yards to Boulevard in southeast Atlanta. This section helped complete the 16.7 miles of mainline Beltline trail.
The addition of Segments 2 and 3 also links the Northwest, Westside, Southside, Eastside, and Northeast Beltline corridors. It improves access for 36 neighborhoods and several Atlanta public schools. The project also includes the Westside Beltline Connector Trail that links the Beltline to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The project was completed with funding from federal, state, local, and philanthropic sources. The funding helped accelerate construction ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The ribbon cutting will take place shortly before Atlanta’s first 2026 FIFA World Cup match is held.
The full Beltline vision is a 22-mile mainline trail with 11 miles of connector trails. It will serve more than 45 neighborhoods and is targeted for completion in 2030.
