Grounds and Sounds is a funky new coffee concept that sounds just as groovy as its name and is set to come to the Las Vegas Valley this year. According to a City of Las Vegas permit, the new cafe is expected to open in Northwest Las Vegas at what is often referred to as the Michael Way Retail Center at 2747 N Rainbow Blvd.
According to RHYTHM Roast Inc., the brand behind the opening, owner Pamela Matthews, Grounds and Sounds should be opening this summer. That means construction is currently underway. If all goes well with construction and permitting, we should be hearing about a grand opening soon.
What Now Las Vegas briefly spoke with Matthews, who confirmed the opening. The team later shared more details about the exciting new development.
“Grounds & Sounds is a community coffeehouse built around the rich culture and living history of coffee,” the team shared in an email.
Coffee was born in Ethiopia, on the continent of Africa. It was cultivated, ceremonialized, and carried across centuries and cultures by communities whose contributions deserve to be honored, not as a footnote, but as the foundation.”
“A new coffee shop is coming to Las Vegas. Stay tuned for news and opening information,” the Grounds and Sounds website reads. Unfortunately, besides a pile of beautiful coffee beans, there isn’t much else on the website. With no further information on the website and no social media pages, it’s hard to tell what else besides coffee the new cafe will be offering.
“We were built for the coffee enthusiast who wants to experience the full ceremony and story behind each cup. For the shift worker who needs more than a drive-through. For the creative who needs a space that supports focus, inspiration, and a sense of shared purpose. For anyone who needs a comfortable and peaceful place to slow down long enough to shut out the noise,” the team writes.
“Our drink program reflects that same depth. Expertly curated full-bodied roasts and specialty coffee preparations sit alongside coffee-infused cocktails and libations crafted with the same intention as everything else in the space. Every drink has a story. Every pour is a decision. From the kettle pour over to the evening cocktail, nothing here is accidental.”
Besides a Sinclair gas station, the standalone neighborhood retail property where the new Grounds and Sounds will open has little, leaving the new coffee shop plenty of room to shine. However, the new brand will be in good company. Since the local retail scene spans across several adjacent plazas, you can access dozens of prominent national stores, restaurants, and entertainment options in the immediate area.
“We chose the 89108 community in Northwest Las Vegas intentionally. Rooted in the neighborhood, and open to the rest of Las Vegas through direct freeway access off US-95,” Dwayne Tasker, Creative Director, Grounds & Sounds writes.
We’re sure that as we inch closer towards opening, more will be revealed about Grounds and Sounds. So keep your eyes open and your ears perked for the latest.
“We are currently in development and will have a complete press kit available shortly. We look forward to telling this story together,” Tasker said.
Grounds and Sounds is anticipated to open in Northwest Las Vegas, inside the Michael Way Retail Center at 2747 N Rainbow Blvd, before the end of this year.
