Living Spaces, a California-based furniture retailer, has acquired nearly 21 acres at 409 Tyvola Road in Charlotte for a planned showroom and café, according to a recent report from the Charlotte Business Journal.
The $7 million purchase advances the company’s plans for what would be its first North Carolina location. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the site is located in the Yorkmount area near Interstate 77, where previous filings outlined a roughly 154,500-square-foot retail development. While the project continues to move forward, an opening date for the Charlotte store has not been publicly disclosed.
Charlotte Business Journal reports that Living Spaces previously pursued rezoning approvals for the property before completing the acquisition. While the company has not publicly announced a construction or opening timeline, the land purchase signals continued momentum for the project.
According to Living Spaces’ website, the company was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in La Mirada, California. The retailer offers furniture, mattresses, décor, lighting, rugs, office furnishings, and outdoor collections through its showroom locations and online platform.
The Charlotte project would mark Living Spaces’ entry into the North Carolina market, adding another major retailer to the city’s growing Yorkmont commercial corridor.
WhatNow Charlotte reached out to Living Spaces regarding the project and will provide updates as additional details become available.
