The Blossom Shop is preparing to expand its Charlotte footprint with a second location in Dilworth, where the longtime florist has acquired the former Long’s Dry Cleaning building at 918 E. Morehead Street.
According to reporting from The Charlotte Ledger’s social page, the nearly century-old company plans to preserve and renovate the historic 1939 structure, converting it into a facility that will house retail space, floral production operations, and offices.
According to their website, the project marks a significant step for one of Charlotte’s most established businesses. Founded nearly 100 years ago, The Blossom Shop has served generations of customers from its Myers Park location, building a reputation as one of the region’s premier florists for everyday arrangements, weddings, events, and special occasions.
Rather than redeveloping the site from the ground up, plans call for the existing building to be preserved and adapted for modern use. The renovation will breathe new life into the former dry-cleaning property while maintaining a piece of the corridor’s historic character.
According to The Charlotte Ledger, the Dilworth location is expected to function as more than a traditional flower shop. In addition to retail operations, the facility will house production space and offices, allowing the company to consolidate key functions while creating room for future growth.
As reported by The Charotte Ledger, construction could begin later this year, with a summer 2027 opening currently targeted for the project. Once complete, the Dilworth site will become The Blossom Shop’s second Charlotte location while complementing its longtime Myers Park store, which will remain open.
WhatNow Charlotte reached out to The Blossom Shop for additional information regarding the project but did not receive a response by the time of publication. Updates will be provided as more information is revealed.
