A new restaurant called The Pizza Next Door appears to be preparing for an opening in Shingle Springs. This pizzeria is led by co-owners Audrey Nicole Pearce and Brittany Lynn Sampson, and they are set to open at 4131 S. Shingle Road, Suite 10, according to a liquor license application filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The location is in one of the community’s main commercial areas, the Shingle Spring Plaza Shopping Center.
The address might sound familiar to some locals since it previously was hosted by Gold Pan Pizzeria, a neighborhood staple that prepared wood-fired pies, sandwiches, and wings before closing earlier this year. Pearce and Sampson appear to be picking up where the community’s pizza appetite left off, bringing a fresh name and a new vision to the same strip.
While few details about the concept have been publicly announced, the restaurant’s name suggests a neighborhood-focused pizza operation that could serve residents in El Dorado County and nearby areas. Pizza remains as one of the most competitive restaurant categories in Northern California, with owners constantly trying new ways to stand out in the pizza dining scene through specialty ingredients, local sourcing, craft beverage programs and community-oriented atmospheres.
