Good Intentions in St. Petersburg has announced its decision to close in the coming weeks. The owners cited ongoing economic challenges as the reason for the closure.
Good Intentions Announces Upcoming Closure in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is soon to say goodbye to its vegan dining destination Good Intentions. The restaurant announced the news via social media. The closure marks the end of one of the city’s most prominent vegan dining destinations.
Good Intentions is the city’s first all-vegan-owned, full-service bar and restaurant. It was a perennial “Best of the Bay” winner for Best Vegan Restaurant. The restaurant developed a loyal following for its plant-based menu and late-night cocktails.
According to the owners, the restaurant has been facing economic difficulties. The owners said they explored multiple ways to adapt to the challenges facing restaurants in today’s economic environment. Ultimately, they could no longer continue and had to make this decision.
The closure of Good Intentions follows other recent losses in the local vegan dining scene. This includes the shutdown of its sister restaurant, Golden Dinosaurs, in 2025. The closure is expected by mid-summer; the owners have yet to decide what will happen to the space.
Community Reaction
The community took to social media to share their disappointment. The restaurant is known for menu items including kimchi fried rice, southern sriracha crab cakes, and whipped ricotta.
Many patrons left comments on the restaurant’s social media pages following the announcement. Many commenters thanked the team and expressed support for the owners.
One Facebook user wrote, “I’m so defeated and devastated. All the vegan spots in Tampa Bay are closing. We love you, Good Intentions! Thank you for helping me celebrate numerous birthdays and anniversaries and just because in between.”
Another Facebook user wrote, “My son, who is a carnivorous monster, says your burger is better than any burger out there. As a small business owner myself, it’s been hard lately. We’ll slide over from Bradenton as much as possible.”
Good Intentions closure is a loss for St. Petersburg’s vegan dining community.
