Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii could be headed to Lake Wylie and Fort Mill, the Charlotte Business Journal reports.
The expansion plans come on the heels of the brand’s recent debut in Rock Hill. According to the publication, franchise owners Doug Epperly and Abby Epperly are exploring opportunities in both communities and are seeking existing retail spaces ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 square feet.
The publication reports that the future locations would fulfill the franchise agreement’s requirement for local operators to develop at least three stores. The pair has also expressed interest in pursuing additional growth once those initial commitments are completed.
Founded on Hawaii’s Big Island in 1989, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii takes its name from the donkeys that once transported coffee through the steep terrain of Kona. According to the company’s website, menu highlights include Hawaiian coffees, signature lattes, Hawaiian blend cold brews, Mana energy drinks, malasada doughnuts, and “The Bad Ass One” breakfast sandwich served on King’s Hawaiian bread.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports that the company expects to have nearly 50 locations in operation nationwide by the end of June as it continues to expand into new markets.
Exact sites for the proposed Lake Wylie and Fort Mill locations have not yet been identified. WhatNow Charlotte will provide updates as more information becomes available.
