The Picklr, an indoor pickleball franchise, is preparing to expand into North Orange County with a new location planned for 1240 Yorba Linda Boulevard in Placentia.

According to a story published by the Orange County Business Journal, the club will occupy a 28,000-square-foot space formerly home to a Big Lots store. The Placentia location will feature seven indoor courts designed with outdoor-style surfacing, along with amenities including AI coaching technology, a pro shop, private event areas, league play, tournaments, court reservations, and locker rooms with showers. The company has not yet announced an opening date.

Founded in Utah in 2021, The Picklr expanded its national footprint through franchising, offering members access to climate-controlled facilities and organized programming geared toward players of all skill levels. The concept has expanded aggressively throughout California, with locations already operating or planned in communities including Fountain Valley, Rancho Santa Margarita, Carlsbad, and Milpitas.

The Placentia club is currently accepting signups for founding memberships through its website. Members will receive discounted rates and early access to the facility once it opens.
