Lowes Foods is headed to Mooresville, where it will anchor the upcoming Cadia Village mixed-use development at 1740 Mecklenburg Highway. The store is expected to open in 2027, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
The publication reports that developer Pappas Properties plans to begin construction on the approximately 52,000-square-foot grocery store during the third quarter of 2026. Once complete, the location will serve residents of Cadia Village and the surrounding neighborhoods.
The new store will feature several of Lowe’s Foods’ signature in-store concepts, including the Beer Den for local craft and draft beers, Boxcar Betty for coffee and smoothies, and The Cakery for specialty cakes and desserts.
“This addition is a strategic amenity, supporting our goals to provide wellness in an experiential retail environment,” Garrett Maravetz, senior vice president of retail development for Pappas Properties, told the publication.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the Cadia Village Mooresville development is planned to include 60 single-family homes, 440 rental residences, approximately 75,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, a 6,000-square-foot wellness center, walking paths and open gathering areas. The project is located along the new East-West Connector linking Interstates 77 and 85.
According to the Lowes Foods website, the Winston-Salem-based grocer was founded in 1954 and today operates more than 80 supermarkets across the Carolinas. The chain is known for combining a traditional grocery experience with signature in-store concepts such as Beer Den, Chicken Kitchen, SausageWorks and Pick & Prep.
