St. Anselm, the tavern-style steakhouse from Philadelphia-based Starr Restaurants, is headed to 720 Ewing Avenue in Pie Town, where it will open alongside a yet-to-be-named New York-style pizzeria. The Nashville Business Journal reports the two restaurants are expected to debut in summer 2027.
Metro permit filings reviewed by the publication show the concepts will occupy a combined 9,485 square feet and represent an estimated $5 million buildout.
The publication also reports that the restaurants will be part of a redevelopment led by local investors Bryan Fort and Taylor Preston, who purchased the former industrial property in 2024 and are converting it into a retail destination focused on food and beverage concepts. Upscale Japanese restaurant Uchi was previously announced as one of the project’s future tenants.
“I’ll have more to say later, but I love Nashville,” Starr Restaurants founder and CEO Stephen Starr told the Business Journal. “More importantly than loving the city… The people are terrific and the employees are just fantastic. So, we really want to do more.”
Starr Restaurants says on its website that St. Anselm debuted in Brooklyn in 2010 before expanding to Washington, D.C. The restaurant is known for its American tavern fare, with a menu centered on grilled meats, seafood and seasonal sides. The accompanying pizzeria will introduce an entirely new concept to the Starr Restaurants portfolio, serving New York-style pizza.
The company currently operates more than 40 restaurants across Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C., Florida and Nashville, according to its website. WhatNow Nashville will provide updates as additional details about both Pie Town concepts become available.
