A proposed Kroger development on Memorial Boulevard across from the State Farm building in Murfreesboro is one step closer to becoming a reality after revised site plans received initial approval, according to WKRN News.
Following the council’s decision to defer the proposal, Kroger revised the plans to include retention ponds and a redesigned drainage system, according to WKRN News.
The television station also reports that the updated site plan moves the store closer to Memorial Boulevard, creating more separation from neighboring homes while reducing the parking lot by approximately 30 to 60 spaces. The revisions also helped ease community concerns, with several residents who had initially opposed the development later voicing their support.
Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland told WKRN News that community feedback played a key role in shaping the revised proposal and said public input helped improve the project. He added that while traffic concerns remain, the city plans to continue investing in infrastructure improvements throughout the area.
The development has now cleared its first approval stage and will continue through the city’s review process before construction can begin. Kroger has not yet announced an anticipated opening timeline.
