An Italian concept that has been around for nearly 30 years is not losing any acclaim.

It was recently reported by Chicago Business Journal that the team at Volare is prepping to open a new carryout location at 111 E Chestnut Street in Gold Coast. Additionally, Volare will have to find a new location in 2030 as the 201 E Grand Avenue building was recently sold. An opening date for the carryout spot is expected to be around September.

Owner Benny Siddu opened Volare in 1997 in Streeterville, eventually expanding to a second location in 2008 in Oakbrook Terrace. After the success of the concept, he debuted Benny’s Chop House in River North in 2010, and closed it in February 2020. When What Now Chicago reached out to Siddu, he was not available for comment.

The premier Italian spot in Streeterville has become known for their pizzas, shareable plates, pastas and desserts. Of the pastas, a staple is the gnocchi alla vodka, with homemade ricotta dumplings in vodka sauce. Desserts include cannoli, creme brulee and tiramisu.

“Our food represents traditional Italian cuisine with touches of Sardinia and modern accents,” says the description on their website.

Siddu’s carryout location is coming to the south side of E Chestnut Street, at the base of the condominium complex. This is also across the street from The Tremont Chicago Hotel. This area is mainly home to other hotels, but nearby restaurants include Alpana, NoMI and Yaya Mas Greek Kuzina.
