High Grounds Coffee Roasters is brewing up plans for a fourth location.
The project is in the conceptual phase and slated for Central Jersey, owner Charles Garrity told What Now Philadelphia.
Garrity’s first venture, Death of the Fox Brewing Company, is New Jersey’s first and only craft brewery and coffee roastery. He later opened High Grounds Coffee Roasters in Glassboro, a standalone coffee roastery, followed by High Grounds Lounge in Carneys Point.
While additional details remain under wraps, Garrity said the new location will be a “carbon copy” of the Glassboro shop, featuring a full café and on-site coffee roasting.
High Grounds Lounge
The news comes just months after High Grounds Lounge debuted in April.
Both High Grounds Coffee Roasters and High Ground Lounge offer classic coffee and tea selections alongside a range of espresso drinks. Specialty lattes feature flavors like banana Nutella, campfire s’more, cinnamon bun, cookie dough, Milky Way, Twix, Reese’s cup, crème brûlée, funnel cake, honey lavender, toasted pistachio and Neapolitan. Coffee flights are available to mix and match the offerings.
“Not many other coffee houses have an on-site roastery. You can actually walk in and see the coffee being roasted. You can smell it. It’s an experience above and beyond. It’s kind of similar to a brewery in that respect, because we’re literally making the product right in front of you,” Garrity said.
To complement the drinks, the café serves brunch favorites including breakfast sandwiches, paninis, soups and baked goods from Pennsylvania-based Au Fournil bakery.
Unlike Garrity’s other concepts, High Grounds Lounge emphasizes wellness and is housed in the same building as The Frosted Mug dispensary.
“This location is much more focused on wellness drinks—matcha, turmeric, protein smoothies, bringing in that holistic focus,” he said.
A full wellness center is also located behind the property, offering a variety of health-focused classes that Garrity said he hopes the community will explore.
“It’s really important that we’re looking out for the overall health of the population, not just providing healthy eating options [at the cafe], but also providing the classes. We do yoga classes, physical movement classes—mind, body, spirit and meditation, eating and nutrition classes, and cannabis education. It makes us very different from your standard coffee house.”
Garrity looks forward to continuing to grow the brand.
