A popular neighborhood açaí shop is expanding with a second location set to open this summer.

Boostin’ Bowls, owned by Jenna Cardello and business partner Tim Spinner, will debut at 428 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. Cardello and her mother opened the flagship location in Manayunk in 2017.

“I opened about nine years ago. Acai bowls were not a thing quite yet on the East Coast, and we were honestly one of the first places in Philadelphia to do it. It’s become more popular, and our store continues to get busier,” Cardello told What Now Philadelphia.

She said Spinner approached her about the Lafayette expansion.

“We started looking for locations, and I ended up finding this one. I also had a lot of people tell me they’ve always wanted me to open in Conshohocken, so it just felt right,” she said.

The new location will be larger than the Manayunk shop and will offer more seating. However, the aesthetic will remain similar.

“I kind of get to do everything I wanted to do with the first store with the buildout and making the aesthetic look a little better. It’s still going to be pretty simple—clean and white, but we’ll have a few upgrades,” Cardello said.

As for the menu, Boostin’ Bowls will continue to offer its signature bowls, smoothies, cold brew and toasts.

Customer favorites include the Blue Oasis Bowl, featuring a mango, coconut and spirulina base topped with vanilla almond granola, banana, coconut, mango and agave; the Wave Runner smoothie, a tropical blend of banana, mango, pineapple, almond milk, peanut butter and blue spirulina; and avocado toast topped with a hard-boiled egg, tomatoes and Trader Joe’s “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning.

With nearly a decade of experience, Cardello said she looks forward to opening the second location. The team also plans to partner with local gyms, including Vision + Fitness.

“I’m just excited to do this again, but now I know what I’m doing a little bit more than I did the first time. I know my product, I know what people like, I know how to make it and keep it consistent. It gives me more confidence,” she said.

The team is targeting an August debut. Visit the Boostin’ Bowls website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
