Being on cloud nine is an expression used to describe feelings of happiness and excitement. Soon, those emotions could take on a literal meaning with a proposed sky lounge in Camden.
“Most people associate Cloud 9 with happiness. To me, it represents something deeper. It represents elevation. Not simply above the skyline, but above ordinary expectations,” Kenneth Walden told What Now Philadelphia.
Walden, founder of Cloud 9 Luxe Waterfront SkyLounge, grew up in Camden and said the concept invites visitors to appreciate the city’s beauty and see it in a new way.
“Cloud 9 began with a question that refused to leave me. ‘Why should someone have to leave South Jersey to experience something unforgettable?’ For years, people have crossed bridges searching for remarkable nights, iconic rooftops, breathtaking views, and destinations that become part of their life’s story. Meanwhile, one of the most beautiful waterfronts on the East Coast has quietly existed in plain sight,” he said.
The sky lounge is planned for the upper deck of an existing parking garage at 10 Delaware Ave. and is awaiting final approval from Camden’s planning board, according to business filings.
After stepping off the elevator, visitors will be greeted by panoramic views of the Philadelphia skyline and the Delaware River.
The venue’s main space will feature a stage, dance floor, multiple bars, private cabanas and high-top tables. Additional areas will include a beach-inspired section with a pool, a food truck plaza with outdoor seating and parking.
The sky lounge also plans to offer a chef-driven menu featuring premium seafood, steaks, elevated small plates, handcrafted desserts and refined brunch fare. The beverage program will include a curated selection of wines, premium spirits and signature cocktails.

“We’ve spent countless hours thinking through not only the guest experience, but also the practical details that support it—from thoughtful design and year-round functionality to safety, accessibility, and hospitality. Some places become popular. Very few become timeless. Our goal is to pursue the latter,” he said.
Walden said he hopes the sky lounge will leave guests with lasting memories.
“People often assume my favorite moment will be opening night. Truthfully, I don’t think it will be. I think it’ll happen years later. Perhaps I’ll overhear someone say, ‘This is where he proposed,’ or, ‘This is where we celebrated our anniversary,’ or, ‘This is where our family gathered after graduation.’ Or, maybe someone visiting Camden for the first time will look across the river and say, ‘I never expected this,’” he said.
An official opening date has not yet been set. Walden said the team plans to begin construction once the project receives final approval. Visit the Cloud 9 Luxe Waterfront SkyLounge Instagram page for the latest updates.
