Shake Shack, the New York-based burger chain, is getting ready to open a new location in Toronto at 765 Yonge Street.
The company’s newest restaurant is scheduled to open in fall 2026 in the former home of Albert Britnell Book Shop and Starbucks, according to Toronto.com. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the restaurant marks another step in the company’s continued expansion across the Greater Toronto Area. Customers can expect Shake Shack’s lineup of burgers, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, frozen custard, and shakes.
The new restaurant follows the opening of Shake Shack’s King West location at 556 King Street West, which welcomed customers on April 23, 2026. It also builds on the company’s broader Canadian growth strategy, following the opening of restaurants at 40 Eglinton Avenue East in Toronto, Vaughan Mills, and Square One Shopping Center in 2025. Shake Shack first announced plans to significantly expand throughout the Greater Toronto Area last year, with additional locations planned as it continues growing its Canadian footprint.
Shake Shack is known for its menu of made-to-order burgers featuring 100 percent Canadian Angus beef that is raised without antibiotics or added hormones. The menu also includes crispy chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries, frozen custard, shakes, lemonade, and iced tea. Canadian exclusive menu items have also been introduced as part of the brand’s expansion north of the border, alongside ingredients sourced from Canadian suppliers.
The company has made it clear that its plans extend well beyond a handful of restaurants. Billy Richmond, Business Director at Shake Shack Canada, previously said the goal is for Shake Shack to become a long-term part of Canada’s dining scene as the brand continues expanding across the country. The new Yonge and Bloor restaurant represents another milestone in that strategy and adds to the company’s growing presence in some of the GTA’s busiest commercial districts.
