San Babila Café has opened its second Manhattan location this month. Inspired by Milan’s café culture, the café serves specialty coffee, gelato, Italian pastries, and light fare throughout the day. The opening was celebrated with free gelato croissants for the first 200 guests.
San Babila Café Opens a Second Upper East Side Location
San Babila Café opened its second Manhattan location on July 1. The café is located at 1247 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The café serves as an all-day destination for coffee, breakfast, light meals, and desserts.
The café was founded by Gianmarco “Gianni” Di Michele, whose family has a long history in Italian hospitality. He operates Papi at Moxy Times Square, Pandoro, Zeppola NY, and Zeppola Venetian.
The new café offers a welcoming space where guests can enjoy authentic Italian fare. The café opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends, with closing hours varying by day.
“With San Babila, the goal has always been to create a place that feels welcoming, energetic, and rooted in the kind of hospitality people remember,” said Di Michele. “This new location brings together everything we love about Italian café culture—from exceptional coffee and pastries to the feeling of taking a moment to slow down and enjoy where you are.”

The highlights include a croissant gelato cone, gelato, Italian frozen yogurt, and specialty coffee. Other offerings include Italian pastries, croissants, macarons, custom cakes, and topped focaccia.
One signature item is the croissant gelato cone, a freshly baked butter croissant shaped into a cone and filled with premium Italian gelato.
The new Upper East Side café marks another step in San Babila Café’s growing presence across Manhattan.
