San Francisco-based Sana’a Cafe has ongoing expansion plans in the Los Angeles area. The cafe recently signed a lease at 1050 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, and another location is on the way to Resa residential complex at 300 Pacific Ave. in Long Beach (Longbeachize noted the signage up in the windows at Resa).
Sana’a Cafe specializes in Yemeni coffee and aims to celebrate the long tradition of coffee in Yemeni culture.
“Long before coffee became a daily ritual around the world, it was cultivated and traded through the mountains and ports of Yemen. For centuries, Yemeni coffee has been known for its rich flavor, careful cultivation and deep cultural significance,” the website states. “Unlike mass-produced coffee, traditional Yemeni coffee is often grown at high elevations, hand-harvested and naturally processed, creating complex flavor profiles with notes of chocolate, spice, fruit and earthiness.”
The menu features classic espresso beverages, specialty offerings such as biscoff lattes and cinnamon dolce lattes, and additional beverages such as qishr (a Yemeni coffee husk tea) and strawberry acai. Food offerings include pastries such as baklava and biscoff milk cake, and small food items such as turnovers.
The brand currently has 13 locations across the state, including one in Hollywood. There is also a location open in Washington. The brand appears to be on the cusp of further expansion, both within California and beyond. The Sana’a Cafe team has at least 11 locations in the works across the state and is looking to start franchising in Florida, Michigan, Texas and California in 2027, according to the San Francisco Business Times.
