Amaru Nightclub is set to open in November at 1864 E. Mariposa Road in Stockton, owner Johnny Ene confirmed to What Now Sacramento. The new venue will take over a space that has housed several nightlife concepts over the years, most recently El Centenario Club, a late-night bar that operated Fridays and Saturdays on the east side of Stockton. Ene has not yet disclosed details about the concept, but a pending liquor license filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control confirms the project is actively moving forward.

The address at 1864 E. Mariposa Road has a long history as a nightlife destination in East Stockton. Before El Centenario Club, the space operated as La Oficina and even further back as White House Tavern, suggesting the building has been a community gathering spot for decades. Amaru Nightclub appears to be continuing the tradition in the neighborhood.

The name Amaru carries deep cultural significance in Quechua, the indigenous language of the Andean peoples of South America. Amaru refers to a sacred serpent deity associated with power, water, and the connection between the natural and spiritual worlds. It’s a bold name for a nightclub, suggesting the new concept will carry a distinct identity.
