A beloved Pearl retailer is preparing to expand with a second San Antonio location, bringing a larger shopping experience and an expanded collection of globally sourced goods to Olmos Park.
As previously reported by the San Antonio Business Journal, The Tiny Finch is targeting an October opening at 201 E. Olmos Drive, where it will occupy a space nearly twice the size of its flagship boutique at Pearl.
Owner Karen Lee Zachry confirmed to What Now San Antonio that construction remains on schedule and that the new location will allow the locally owned lifestyle boutique to better serve its longtime customers while introducing new product categories.
“We have been at The Pearl for thirteen years and have really grown our business so successfully there,” Zachry said. “But a beautiful building in the heart of the Olmos Park neighborhood became available, and we thought that was an opportunity to meet our neighborhood and our local clientele more where they live and shop and work.”
She added that the larger space will also allow the boutique to expand its carefully curated selection of products from around the world.
“Our goal is that about 75% of our product array will be similar,” Zachry said. “But at the new location, we’ll have more space for clothing and more home goods. Since we have more physical space, we’ll have the chance to bring in larger pieces for the home and products we simply didn’t have room to display before.”
The new boutique will also introduce expanded special-order offerings, including Artel crystal from the Czech Republic, Smythson leather goods and journals from London, and Lalide pajamas from Paris, along with French dinnerware, Czech glassware, and other internationally sourced collections.
Beyond the merchandise, Zachry said shoppers can expect a dramatically different atmosphere inside the historic Olmos Park building.
The space features 16-foot original pressed tin ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained concrete floors, and abundant natural light. To complement the architecture, Zachry has sourced vintage apothecary cabinets and antique display pieces from Europe and Texas dealers.
“I want it to feel like a European boutique in the heart of the neighborhood,” she said. “Everything will be displayed in vintage cabinetry, with beautiful brass chandeliers and warm materials that showcase the treasures we’re sourcing from Europe and around the world.”
The larger footprint will also provide room for a dedicated dressing room, expanded baby and pet departments, and more thoughtfully curated home goods displays.
“We’ll have the opportunity to give each product category its proper due,” Zachry said. “The open layout and high ceilings will make it feel warm, inviting and easy to explore.”
Since purchasing The Tiny Finch in 2023 from founder Courtney Beauchamp, Zachry has gradually shifted the boutique’s merchandising philosophy while preserving many customer favorites.
She explained that the store has evolved toward a more European-inspired aesthetic, adding expanded baby, apothecary and book collections while maintaining handcrafted products from artisans around the world.
“I buy what I love,” Zachry said. “I buy what feels interesting or special or unique. I always say it’s a shop of my favorite things.”
That philosophy extends to many of the products customers discover in the boutique. Some are brands she has personally used for years, while others are discovered during buying trips around the world.
“My goal is to go out into the world, seek out people who are making beautiful things, and bring them back to San Antonio.”
Although The Tiny Finch is adding a second location, Zachry emphasized that maintaining its boutique identity remains a top priority.
She said the company has no plans to franchise or pursue rapid expansion because the business depends on personal relationships with small makers and artisans, many of whom produce handcrafted goods in limited quantities.
“I don’t think what we do works in an authentic way in more than these two locations,” she said. “Everything gets chosen for a reason, and I wouldn’t want to get so big that I couldn’t feel that personal connection with every product we sell.”
To preserve that personalized experience, merchandise will move between the Pearl and Olmos Park stores daily, allowing customers at either location access to the full Tiny Finch assortment.
“We can move products between the shops every day,” Zachry said. “We want our customers to have a consistent Tiny Finch experience no matter which location they visit.”
While an official grand opening date has not yet been announced, Zachry said the Olmos Park boutique will first hold a soft opening before hosting a larger community celebration once the team is fully settled.
She also expressed gratitude for the local support that has fueled the boutique’s growth.
“San Antonio is really a city that’s committed to shopping local and supporting local businesses,” Zachry said. “We’re incredibly grateful for that, and we’re excited to become part of the Olmos Park community just as we’ve loved being part of the Pearl community.”
What Now San Antonio will continue to follow the project as The Tiny Finch prepares for its October debut.
