The Picklr is preparing to open a new indoor pickleball club at 17904 Magnolia St., Fountain Valley, this August. To WhatNow, franchise owners Tracey Swanitz and Christy Deutschle shared the excitement of opening two new locations in Orange County this summer. Along with the Fountain Valley unit, Rancho Santa Margarita is also receiving a 28,000-square-foot facility that features nine indoor courts at the end of July.
The Fountain Valley unit will feature a variety of physical amenities, including six pickleball courts overlooked by a mezzanine viewing deck, a small gym warm-up area equipped with a treadmill, a bike, and a TRX weight system, and air conditioning.
Tracey highlighted that the venue will offer top-of-the-line Titan ball machines and Wingfield AI technology on three of its courts to record games and provide playback for technology and training.
Additionally, the owners plan to eventually introduce a beer tap wall located right between the courts and underneath the mezzanine lounge. According to Tracey, the idea is to create a social space for players to wind down with a beer or a small snack.
“People here in California like to go play pickleball and then go hang out with the friends that they were playing pickleball with, whether it’s happy hour or lunch or dinner. So we just wanted to incorporate that vibe into our clubs.”
In terms of programming and membership, the Fountain Valley location will offer an unlimited membership model where everything is included, covering court reservations, entry fees for leagues and tournaments, and four free clinic passes per month for group lessons.
Christy Deutschle believes the addition will bring the community together. “It’s a high-energy space where beginners and advanced players alike can connect”.
To welcome beginners, the facility will provide free pickleball one-on-one lessons for new players, alongside a 15-day trial membership for $30. The club’s offerings will be tailored to the community’s specific preferences, balancing options such as open play, ladders, leagues, court reservations, and clinics to meet local needs.
The Picklr operates a network of indoor pickleball clubs across the United States. According to the company’s website, members have access to dedicated indoor courts, organized leagues, tournaments, lessons, and court reservations. The company continues to add new locations in multiple markets.
