International celebrity hairstylist Artur Kirsh is bringing his salon to Philadelphia.

Artur Kirsh Studio will open this fall on the fourth floor of Boyds, the family-owned luxury retailer at 1818 Chestnut St.

“I love the building. It’s a historic building. It’s beautiful inside. Windows surround the whole space, so you see Center City and the sky scrapers all throughout. We’re going to take over 2,000 square feet of space. It’s going to be very open, New York-style, black and white, big mirrors,” Kirsh told Whatnow Philadelphia.

Kirsh said partnering with Boyds felt like a natural fit.

“I always felt that hair, beauty and fashion go hand in hand together. With all the designers that I’ve worked with in the past and fashion shows, it will be all in one place. It will be very exciting and creative. It’s not just going to be a typical salon,” he said.

Kirsh specializes in coloring and “dry cutting,” a technique in which hair is cut while dry to enhance its natural texture, movement and shape.

His clients include former The Real Housewives of New York City cast member Dorinda Medley, Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Celine Dion, Kathy Griffin, Nicole Miller and Ken Downing. He has also styled models for New York and Milan Fashion Weeks, the Chanel Trunk Show, and the Christian Louboutin, Carmen Marc Valvo and Derek Lam fashion shows, and continues to earn Best of Philly and Best of Style magazine honors.

Kirsh works out of Artur Kirsh Studio in Narberth and sees clients at The Rittenhouse Spa & Club in Philadelphia, John Barrett Salon in New York City and Oasis Salon & MedSpa in Boca Raton.

Kirsh said he looks forward to welcoming clients to Center City, marking a homecoming for the stylist.

“I’m happy to be back in the city because I previously worked there for more than 20 years. In my heart, I feel like it’s going to be a number one salon. It’s going to be a very hot space. This salon will probably be everything put together through the years that I’m proud of,” he said.

The salon is now booking September appointments, with its grand opening celebration scheduled for Sept. 24.
