Zatar Lebanese Tapas & Bar Announces Closure
Zatar is known for combining Lebanese cuisine with modern European techniques. It offers a vibrant, family-style dining room and a popular late-night center with a dedicated hookah area.
Situated at a crossroads in the heart of Deep Ellum, the restaurant features a menu that is influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures and prepares dishes with high-quality oriental ingredients. The menu also features craft cocktails and Lebanese wines.
In an Instagram announcement, the restaurant team shared the heartbreaking news of its closure. The team confirmed that Zatar Lebanese Tapas and Bar, located at 2825 Commerce Street, Dallas, will be closing by the end of August 2026. A specific date for the closure was not mentioned.
The team thanked the community, friends, and family, who supported the restaurant and celebrated special occasions. “Your support, loyalty, and kindness have meant more to us than words can express,” said the team.
The restaurant also shared a message of appreciation for its staff, writing, “Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You helped make Zatar feel like home for so many people.”

What Led to the Closure
According to Chron, the owner, Sam Fawal, shared that the restaurant is closing due to the ongoing construction delays from the city’s Commerce Street project. The construction of the street began in fall 2024 and is delayed until January 2027.
In the closure announcement, the team added that it was not an easy decision. They explained, “Over the last two years, we’ve fought through one challenge after another. We poured everything we had into keeping our doors open because we truly believed things would turn around.”
As the restaurant enters its final few weeks of operations, it encourages the community to visit and celebrate the restaurant one last time. “Come enjoy your favorite dishes, have one more drink, smoke one more hookah, and help us celebrate the memories we’ve created together,” the team wrote.
The closure of Zatar marks the end of a local favorite and nightlife gem for the Deep Ellum community.
