Micheladas El Patron is opening a second location at 14035 E Hwy 88 in Lockeford, according to co-owner Eduardo Cuellar, who confirmed the news to What Now Sacramento. Cuellar said he and his wife, Cintia Cuellar, are targeting a mid-September opening for the new restaurant.
The Cuellars have run their original Micheladas El Patron in Stockton for about 15 years, building a following around micheladas, seafood dishes and a specialty item Eduardo says draws customers from all over, a heavily loaded pork rind dish called chicharron carnudo. The menu also includes shrimp empanadas, ceviche, aguachile and seafood cocktails, alongside broader Mexican fare.
Cuellar said freshness is central to how the restaurant operates, with chicharron coming out of the kitchen every two hours and meat cooked to order rather than prepared in advance. He said the recipes trace back to family, describing them as his mother’s and grandmother’s, kept completely original after years of running the Stockton location.
What sets Micheladas El Patron apart from other Mexican restaurants in the area, Cuellar pointed to that same commitment to quality and freshness, along with a loyal customer base that includes a strong following well beyond the Mexican community, including many Colombian customers drawn specifically to the chicharron.
“We are a small, family owned business bringing you the authentic taste of Mexico,” Cuellar told What Now “For the community, for your town.”
