The Nashville-based chain is joining the competitive pizza market next year.

The Slim & Husky’s Pizza owners are debuting their first Chicago location in December of next year, per a recent report from Chicago Business Journal. This is at the Pullman Park development off of 111th Street. Along with this new location, the team is seeking additional shops in neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the city, such as Garfield Park and South Loop.

Clint Gray is a part-owner with Derrick Moore and EJ Reed, who founded the pizza concept in 2015 after their time at Tennessee State University. Their flagship restaurant is in North Nashville, and they have expanded to 11 locations across the U.S. in Tennessee and Georgia. The three have been planning on opening in Chicago for over a year, and are partnering with former Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte who is coming on as an investor.

“We are very excited to enter the Chicago market,” Gray said.

The Southern pizza restaurants serve the team’s twists on artisan pizzas. One of which is the Got Five on It with classic red sauce, their house cheese blend and fresh mozzarella. For those not in the mood for pizza, wings and cinnamon rolls are on the menu.

While there is not an exact address yet, it will join the development at 111th Street and Interstate 94. A Chick-Fil-A will also be at the site, along with a temporary office for the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority). The initial groundbreaking was in 2024.
