The Patio Restaurant space is being brought back to life this fall.

From Block Club Chicago, the team at Stunod’s Pizzeria is planning a second location at 1503 W Taylor Street later this year. This will be right in Little Italy near the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) campus. The opening date has not been announced, but it will be before the end of this year.

Owners Austin and Frank Battaglia debuted their family business in October 2019 at 6535 W 63rd Street. The two first debuted a food cart serving Italian ice from their other business, Buddy’s. They would go all over the city, as far north as Evanston, to serve their dessert options, and later were inspired to create a brick-and-mortar pizza spot.

“We have been so blessed to have grown up in a family with plenty of influence in the pizza industry,” says the description on their website.

Those dining at the location near Midway Airport can customize their pizzas, with multiple options for the crust, size and toppings. Deep dish, calzone and hand rolled are a few of the crusts available, with toppings including sausage, pepperoni, hot giardinera and mushroom. A menu of sandwiches, burgers and pastas is also available.

Stunod’s will serve pies on the south side of Taylor Street, next to Golden Thai. This is also across from Rosebud Taylor Street Italian and Hawkeye’s Bar. Illinois Medical District and UIC’s medical campus are just a couple blocks west.

What Now Chicago has reached out to the owners of Stunod’s and is awaiting comment. More updates on the new Little Italy location can be found on the business’ Facebook or Instagram pages.
