A fast-growing boutique fitness studio is adding another Boston-area destination to its footprint.

btone FITNESS is preparing to open a new studio at 73 Arthur Street in Brighton, according to recent social media updates from the business. The location is being brought to the neighborhood by franchisee Kelsey Irish, who also operates the brand’s Providence, Rhode Island studio.

According to an earlier report from the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center, Irish’s background in high-level professional soccer and a partnership with a leading sports brand fueled her passion for movement and challenging workouts, ultimately leading her to btone.

Founded in 2010 by CEO Jody Merrill, btone has since grown to more than 40 locations across 10 states. The brand’s signature workout blends Pilates-inspired movements with strength training, functional movement, balance, and endurance in a 45-minute, low-impact workout designed to leave muscles shaking without putting excessive strain on the joints.

And while Pilates may be part of the inspiration, btone is quick to point out that its workout isn’t traditional Pilates, yoga, or barre. Instead, the studio combines elements of several fitness modalities into what it describes as an approachable, energetic workout that “packs a serious punch.”

The workouts focus on slow, controlled movements designed to target slow-twitch muscle fibers, gradually fatiguing muscles and creating that signature btone shake. The result is a challenging strength workout without the high-impact movements often associated with traditional strength training.

At the center of the experience is arkeTONE, a custom-designed resistance platform affectionately known as “TONEy.” The machine features a moving carriage reminiscent of a Pilates reformer, but its resistance-based design allows exercises to be adapted to each person’s abilities and physical condition.

The new studio is still “a few weeks” away from its soft opening, according to a recent update from the Brighton location. Once the soft opening begins, the studio plans to offer more than 25 classes per week, with morning, midday, and afternoon options.

Those looking to get a head start can currently snag one of the studio’s limited-time pre-opening deals: five classes for $89 or eight classes for $99. Each person may purchase one pre-opening offer.
