A private, “modern, urban” members-only golf club is opening this fall in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood.
Philadelphia Golf Club, operated by Julian Colina, will debut at 111 S. 15th St. inside The Packard Grande. His brother, Jordan Colina, operates sister locations Gowanus Golf Club in Brooklyn and Vancouver.
“We’re a network of clubs. We have different names, different locations, but we all operate under the same model,” Colina told Whatnow Philadelphia. “Philadelphia is one of the greatest golf cities. We’ve been looking at Philadelphia for a while, so we’re excited to finally do it. It just seemed like a perfect fit for us.”
Philadelphia Golf Club will occupy 3,200 square feet on the mezzanine floor. The space will feature a lounge area with snacks, private elevator entrance, lockers, and three private simulator bays equipped with TrackMan technology, and a putting area for members and guests.
“TrackMan’s the same technology that pros use, so top tier technology. You’ll get all the ball tracking needs, everything that you could possibly want to improve your game,” he said.
The centrally located putting area will feature PuttView technology.
“It’s really cool. It has projectors—you can see the shape of the green and practice putting. That’s something that’s really special, especially within the city, it can be tough to get that style of putting practice in,” Colina said.
Colina describes golf as he and his brother’s “main hobby,” and they wanted to develop a space avid golfers could enjoy without the crowds.
The club will accommodate up to 100 members. Members can bring guests and enjoy 24-hour access to the space, whether they want to stop in at 4 a.m. before work or midnight to blow off some steam.
“We cap memberships; that’s why it’s always accessible and you can always find a tee time. You have your own space, your own little lounge area; you can bring a few guests or just get some practice in without having that very crowded bar feeling,” he said.
All members will have access to the sister clubs, making it easy to visit locations between New York and Philadelphia.
The team is eager to tee off in another city.
“We’re already accepting Founding members, and there’s massive demand, massive interest from the local community, which we’re really excited about. I think people’s eyes light up when they finally see the concept come to life. That’s the most fun part,” Colina said.
Philadelphia Golf Club will make its debut in late September for Founding members, followed by an early October opening for the rest of its members.
