A popular and vibrant restaurant in Independence, Missouri, officially closed its doors. Patio Restaurant and Lounge had served its last meal after more than one year of service. The restaurant team explained that, due to financial constraints, the restaurant decided to permanently shut down.
Patio Restaurant and Lounge Bids Farewell
Located at 19700 E Valley View Parkway in Independence, Missouri, Patio Restaurant and Lounge became a community favorite for its R&B-inspired lounge, soul comfort food, and an elegant dining experience. Its menu featured American cuisine, cocktails, and wine.
On September 6, the restaurant team announced the closure on Instagram and stated that after careful consideration, they had made the decision to permanently close Patio Restaurant and Lounge.
The team thanked customers, employees, friends, family, and supporters for their support. The team said, “To every guest, supporter, employee, friend, family member, and everyone who ever walked through our doors — THANK YOU.”
The team said the relationships and memories created during the restaurant’s operation would continue beyond the closure.

What Led to the Closure
The restaurant team explained that the primary reason for the closure was financial issues that “are beyond the restaurant’s financial ability to recover from.”
In the post, the team added, “We are asking everyone to please give us grace, patience, and understanding as we work through this transition and get all of our affairs in order.”
On May 5, 2025, a shooting occurred outside the restaurant during Cinco de Mayo celebrations. A security guard at the restaurant was shot in the leg during the incident, according to the Hoodline report.
Following the closure announcement, several customers expressed their disappointment on social media. One customer wrote, “Sorry to hear this! My husband and I enjoyed our visits there.”
With the closure of Patio, the Independence dining community has lost a dining gem.
