Hot dogs are out and sandwiches and salads are in for a Windyke storefront. Fast-casual chain American Deli has filed the necessary paperwork to transform the space that previously housed The Original Hot Dog Factory into its newest Memphis-area location.
American Deli intends to serve up its eclectic menu at 4265 Hacks Cross Road. The concept currently has a commercial alteration permit for the space under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development.
The submitted paperwork shows that relatively extensive renovations are required to turn the former Original Hot Dog Factory into American Deli’s next area home. The scope of work is described as: “interior build-out at existing building (previously stand alone fast-food chain restaurant). – new interior finishes, including walls, flooring, and ceiling. – existing walk-in cooler/ freezer use as-in. – existing RTU & HVAC system & duct work use as is. Relocation of existing ducts and grills only – existing electrical system & panels use as-is. – existing grease trap use as-is.”
American Deli will span 3,538 square feet, with an occupant load of 77.
The new location does not presently have an opening timeline available.
American Deli was founded in 1989 and has since become a hit thanks in part to its signature dish-LP wet, described on the website as: “Famous among foodies and synonymous with Atlanta, American Deli’s Lemon Pepper Wet wings created a food culture phenomenon all by themselves.”
