An Italian-Mediterranean-inspired restaurant is set to open later this year in Glenside.
Capperini will debut at 137 S. Easton Rd., where owner Ilya Vorobey told Whatnow Philadelphia the restaurant’s inspiration came from the building itself.
“It’s a beautiful building from the 1920s. It used to be an old bank. When we saw the building, we thought it would be a really cool place for people to hang out and just enjoy—just a beautiful atmosphere,” he said.
When stepping inside, guests will be transported to the Old World, with traditional styling and trimwork complemented by modern touches.
The menu will feature authentic homemade fare, including shareable dishes still in the works, along with pasta and entrees like fish and meat. Capperini’s claim to fame will be its dedicated dessert room, offering more than 15 different desserts to choose from.
Vorobey said the restaurant is in the final stages of transferring its liquor license and plans to make sure the wine list is “really something extraordinary.” There will also be a curated cocktail program.
After nearly four years of work on Capperini, Vorobey is eager to introduce the space to the community.
“It’s coming to an end. We’re excited about that part and, of course, the food, the drinks. We want to develop something that people enjoy,” he said.
