Muse Cheesecakes & Bakery, the Basque cheesecake business that has become a fixture of San Diego’s dessert scene, is now working toward a brick-and-mortar location at 955 Grand Ave., Suite 100, in Pacific Beach, currently listed as under construction, according to the webpage.
The bakery specializes in Basque-style cheesecakes, known for their molten centers and deeply caramelized tops, sold by preorder for pickup or delivery.
Founder Lada Sadovnyk confirmed the shift to What Now San Diego, though she said an opening remains several months away at minimum. “We will not open within the next several months, definitely,” she said.
The Pacific Beach site marks a change from an earlier East Village lease that What Now San Diego reported on last year, when the business was working toward a projected September or October 2025 opening at 1150 E St. That project did not move forward.
Muse Cheesecakes has built a devoted following in San Diego since Sadovnyk, a Ukrainian immigrant, launched the business out of her home kitchen with roughly $100. She has since moved production to a rented commercial kitchen near Sports Arena, where the business now bakes an estimated 1,200 cheesecakes a month, according to San Diego Magazine.
