A historic Downtown Jacksonville building is getting a new chapter, with Oak Steakhouse preparing to open its doors inside the restored Greenleaf building.
The Charleston-based steakhouse is planned for 204 N. Laura Street, where the restaurant’s official website now lists the Jacksonville location as ‘coming soon’. The site also invites guests to join its mailing list for updates on the opening date and pre-opening events.
Oak Steakhouse is part of Indigo Road Hospitality Group, which operates the concept in several cities across the Southeast. The Jacksonville location will occupy space inside the century-old Greenleaf building, a historic property that has recently undergone an extensive restoration.
The restaurant’s website describes the Jacksonville location as a modern take on the classic steakhouse, with Prime Certified Angus Beef, seasonal dishes featuring local and regional ingredients, a wine list and full-service dining.
The restaurant was previously announced for the former Jacobs Jewelers space in the Greenleaf building, where the longtime jeweler operated before closing in 2023.
JWB Real Estate Capital recently completed the restoration of the building, which now also serves as the company’s headquarters. The project has brought new life to the historic property while creating space for additional businesses and hospitality concepts.
Oak Steakhouse is currently expected to open in early 2027, according to recent local reporting.
And the steakhouse won’t be the only food-and-drink addition planned for the property. Plans also call for a 3,500-square-foot basement speakeasy and bar beneath the Greenleaf. The space was previously used as a private shopping area for VIP customers of Jacobs Jewelers. Plans for the new bar include a subway-style entrance from Adams Street.
The Greenleaf building dates to 1926 and is known for its Art Deco architecture. Its restoration is part of the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Jacksonville, giving Oak Steakhouse a distinctive setting for its first Northeast Florida location.
For now, the restaurant’s official website continues to list the Jacksonville location as coming soon, with an opening date yet to be announced directly by the restaurant.
