What Now has followed the expansion of barbecue restaurant Swig & Swine for several years now, reporting back in 2024 on planned locations in Moncks Corner and Myrtle Beach. Now, Swig & Swine BBQ is expanding its repertoire with a brand-new restaurant concept.
Called Lumpy’s Place by Swig & Swine, the new restaurant will honor the memory of owner Anthony DiBernardo’s late son, Asher, says recent coverage by the Post and Courier.
“The restaurant at 2871 Maybank Highway is named in memory of his son, Asher DiBernardo, affectionately nicknamed Lumpy, who passed away in March 2025 at the age of 23 following an accident,” says the coverage. “DiBernardo was a local drummer who his dad said had been with him from the start of the family-run barbecue business and had a huge impact on the local music scene.”
The menu at Lumpy’s Place will build on the BBQ cuisine that has made Swig & Swine a success, but with a meat-and-three approach.
Lumpy’s Place is still going through the design process, and further details on the space and the menu are not yet available.
