A Mexican Restaurant in Normandy Park Is Set to Close After 16 Years

Archie’s Mexican Restaurant is preparing to close its doors next month after serving the community for more than 16 years. The restaurant serves Mexican dishes based on family recipes.

Archie’s Mexican Restaurant Set to Close

Family-owned, Archie’s Mexican Restaurant is a Normandy Park community staple. The owner shared the closure news on social media. The announcement stated that Archie’s Mexican Restaurant, located at 17821 1st Ave S, Normandy Park, Washington, will serve its last dinner on October 9, 2026.

The owner wrote, “After 16 and a half wonderful years, our time serving this community has come to an end.”

In the post, the owner mentioned that the restaurant is being handed over to new business owners. Archie’s owner shared that they are excited and look forward to “passing the torch to the new owners.”

“We hope you will extend the same wonderful support to them on their new journey,” said the owner, addressing the community.

The restaurant owner also encouraged the community and customers to visit the restaurant and enjoy one more dinner. She said, “Please come by, share a memory, dine in as we are still very heartbroken by the decision we have had to make.”

About the Restaurant

The restaurant is owned and operated by Argelia Sahagun, also known as Archie by the community members. According to a B-Town Blog report, Sahagun had previously operated Lago Azul in Des Moines from 1995 to 2008.

Archie’s built its reputation in the community with its generous portions of authentic, bold, and fiery Mexican flavors. The menu offers delicious and crispy tacos, sizzling fajitas, enchiladas, and scratch-made fresh guacamole. Local favorites include Arroz Con Pollo, Tortilla Soup, and Mexican Pizza.

The announcement drew responses from customers and community members on social media.

One customer commented, “Archie, so sorry to hear that you are closing. You are an amazing person who makes amazing comfort food, and you will surely be missed. We will try to stop by before closing for one last hooray.”

With warm hospitality and mouthwatering flavors, Archie’s Mexican Restaurant has made a lasting impression on the dining community.
