A new bookstore will aim to bring diverse voices to Atlanta’s Westside this fall. Owner Camille Watwood will open Darkly Rooted Books at 839 Joseph E. Boone Blvd, Suite E103. Watwood is aiming for a late October opening.
The bookstore will focus on sci-fi, fantasy and horror literature and will aim to highlight BIPOC authors.
“It will be a one-stop shop where fans of speculative fiction by authors from the global majority can find what they’re looking for, as well as discover new favorites they didn’t know existed,” the website states. “We aim for deep stock, not just token representation — a real home for these stories on Atlanta’s west side.”
Watwood also would like to use the bookstore as an environment for gathering and events related to books.
