Coldbar, a new cocktail bar and cold tapas restaurant from Mezcla owner Garrett Talmage, is coming to Columbus’ Italian Village neighborhood, according to Columbus Underground.

The new concept is planned for 1049 N. Fourth St., where Talmage is transforming a former Mission Coffee Co. roasting facility into a neighborhood bar and restaurant. The space has not operated as a coffee roasting facility in several years.

Coldbar will focus on cocktails and a selection of cold dishes and snacks, with the menu designed to offer options ranging from casual bites to higher-end selections. Guests can expect items such as oysters, caviar, tartare, potato salad, deviled eggs, and other cold preparations.

Talmage, who opened Mezcla at 1022 Summit St. in 2025, said the idea for Coldbar developed while he was spending time at Mezcla’s patio and looking for another opportunity to create a concept in the Italian Village neighborhood. He took over the North Fourth Street space in May.

The beverage program is being developed by Jackson Proctor, who also works at Mezcla. According to Talmage, Proctor’s cocktails will be thoughtful and stylized while remaining approachable. The cocktail menus at Mezcla and Coldbar will differ, although one drink, Pondon Monium, will be offered at both concepts.

Coldbar is also expected to offer a happy hour, with Talmage saying prices will range from affordable options to higher-end offerings. A Bloody Mary topped with an oyster, for example, is expected to cost roughly $8 during happy hour.

An exact opening date has not been announced. Talmage told Columbus Underground that he hopes to open Coldbar soon.

What Now Columbus has reached out to Garrett Talmage for additional information about Coldbar, including the expected opening date and what guests can expect from the new concept.
